MOBILE SCHOOL MEDICAL CLINIC

Mobilising medical clinics to schools

There are many challenges that affect rural and remote schools. One challenge is the access of the community to regional medical facilities. The facilities may be present in the region but access and transport to get to the clinics isn’t available. Great Plains works to transport medical professionals from the clinics in the regions to the schools to help those in need. So far Great Plains has hosted Eyesight Clinics in Botswana and Kenya. International paediatric experts were also bought in to join the mobile clinic moving through the schools, working closely with regional specialists to perform a series of tests. Good eyesight has a considerable impact on education and these clinics aim to give every child a chance to succeed at school.

A gift of $30,000 helps to fund the experts and logistics of a mobile medical clinic to approximately 30 schools.
